Our first cenote in Tankah. We just stopped to have a look. This one is connected with the sea, and clear enough to watch fishes from the shore.

Yucatán je krasová oblast a všechna voda okamžitě mizí v podzemí. Když se strop jeskyně propadne, vznikne cenote. Tady s břehy obrostlými mangrove.

Dle mé knihy vznikly cenotes když před 65 miliony let spadnul na Yucatán meteorit, a následkem nárazu popraskal vápencové stropy a občas se propadly. To měl být tentýž meteorit co vyhubil brontosaury.
