Here is the place where we were trying to buy some gas. We almost didn't leave Xcalak because we didn't have enough gas to get to the closest gas station (60 km), and when we found the lady selling gas out of her back yard, she said that we were too late. Only after we left I pondered about the conversation and realized we were not too late, we just had to come back later. Had we returned the next morning, we would have to wait until the evening to get some gas, too late to get to Tulum. The next time my guide book says "this is the last gas station, fill up", I am going to do just that. I never realized what an adventurous husband I had untill he said "oh what the heck, someone will sell us some gas somewhere" and passed right by the gas station. For his version of the story, contact Larry Luckham, "the one who gets caught with no gas at the end of the road to nowhere". How could I not love this man?
