Mariposa grove of giant sequoias (sequoiadendron giganteum) is in the southern corner of Yosemite. In winter, the 2 mile long road to the lower grove is closed, and the park service allow backpacking into the upper grove. Staying overnight among the quiet giants is quite an experience.

This was a fun trip with Paige, Greg and Heide. I had to try my new XC skis. Snow conditions weren't great, but that didn't matter, I was so happy to be skiing that ice and few falls couldn't deter me.

We had beautiful spring weather and zillions of stars in the night. And I made it back on time to have a nice Valentine's dinner with Larry.
